Yoga is a wonderful way for children to strengthen their growing bodies while at the same time exploring their inner being. It has been proven to increase self-awareness and build self-esteem.

Virginia Regional Ballet is pleased to offer a creative and playful approach to yoga integrating stories, songs and games with the fundamentals of breathing techniques, yoga postures, relaxation and meditation.

Bradley Method

The Bradley® Method is a 12 week series of Husband-Coached Natural Childbirth. It is a simple way of increasing self-awareness and of teaching you how to deal with the stress of labor and birth. The once-a-week classes are small, in order to provide individual attention. They include 12 units of instruction, and teach both of you relaxation, physiology, nutrition and newborn care. The classes emphasize good coaching techniques for labor and birth management with stress control, and they advice you on how to be an intelligent consumer of obstetric services, emphasizing positive communication with the birth attendants. You will also learn about unexpected situations such as emergency childbirth and cesarean. So let us help you learn to give birth naturally!

The Fall series starts on Friday September 17 at 7:00pm. Class lasts 2+hrs. Cost $250.00 including workbook and hand-outs notebook. For more information contact Chris and Cecilia Phillips at cecichapa@aol.com

Summer Programs

Summer at VRBAIn addition to Summer Classes we also offer two weeks of Summer Intensive Seminars for dancers at or above Ballet level 2A and two weeks of Dance Camp for dancers aged four to nine years of age.

Our Dance Camp provides younger dancers with instruction in ballet, tap, and jazz. At the end of each week dancers showcase what they have learned with a performance for their family and friends. Dance Camp also includes crafts and the study of a selected ballet.

Ballroom Dance

Steve KirvanInterested in ballroom? VRB recommends 7 Cities Ballroom. 7 Cities Ballroom is owned and operated by Steve Kirvan. Steve started teaching for Fred Astaire Dance Studios (FADS) in Durham, NC at the age of 17. After completing a six week training class, Steve has never looked back and has now been teaching ballroom dancing for 12 years. Steve competed professionally with FADS for 7 years in both the Rhythm and Smooth Styles; placing within the top 6 to 10 in the Southeastern region and receiving several Top Teacher Awards. After moving to Virginia in 2001, and teaching for FADS of Virginia Beach, Steve decided to take a break from dancing. But, in October 2004, Steve decided it was time to go back to his passion and started teaching full time again.  Steve enjoys teaching people how to have fun dancing while bringing ballroom dancing to the Hampton Roads area. Steve is certified at the Silver Level and a member of the National Dance Council of America (NDCA).
